Welcome to SRC’s Science and Technology Conference

About Event

7th Biennial Science and
Technology Conference

The SRC Biennial Science and Technology Conference is the SRC’s flagship event in recognition of Science and Technology Month. The event brings together key research and innovation stakeholders from Jamaica and the world. This year’s theme “Harnessing the Power of Research and Innovation to Drive Economic Resilience” is inspired by the Jamaica Vision 2030 national outcome 11- A technology-enabled society.

Who should participate

The face-to-face and virtual Conference provides opportunities for networking, learning, and initiating new collaborations to achieve Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). It is also a space to celebrate and recognize the impact achieved by researchers and innovators from the public and private sectors.

Welcome

Messages from the Chairman & Executive Director

BOARD CHAIRMAN- DR PARRIS LYEW-AYEE JR

Board Chairman- Dr Parris Lyew-Ayee Jr

Welcome to the 7th staging of the SRC Biennial Science and Technology Conference, where we bring together the best and the brightest scientists – researchers and applied practitioners to share the latest and greatest developments and discoveries. This is not a Conference for the sake of having a conference, and the presentations aren’t just esoteric research. Everything you will see and hear is geared towards practical applications designed to help businesses and grow the country in a real and obvious manner. Hard-working scientists and focused organizations are ready to share their work, and now, as we emerge from the scourges of the pandemic, and as Jamaica appears poised for unprecedented growth and development, together let us harness the power of Science together to sustain this progress using our home grown talents and skills.

We are thrilled to be hosting the 2022 staging of the SRC Conference both in-person and virtually. With the challenges created by the Covid-19 pandemic, the relevance, and role of  Science, Technology, and Innovation to our survival became even more apparent.  This 7th Biennial Conference pulls together a diverse field of leaders and practitioners in government, academics, business, industry, as well as the public and private sectors. We aim to highlight the synergies and role of different stakeholders in harnessing the power of research and innovation to drive economic resilience.  As Jamaica celebrates 60 years of independence, the importance of partnerships and innovation to re-ignite our nation for greatness cannot be understated. Throughout the two and half days of discussions, we will highlight successes, share experiences and explore the potential of innovative partnerships and novel collaboration as we imagine Jamaica as the place of choice to live, work, raise families and do business.

I wish you all well and look forward to sharing throughout the event and beyond.
