Purpose and Vision
The National Science and Technology Conference is a signature event that underscores the SRC’s commitment to fostering innovation, promoting scientific research, and driving sustainable development. This year’s theme reflects our focus on exploring the critical role that nuclear technology can play in addressing global challenges, particularly in the areas of agriculture, water management, medicine, and energy. The Conference aims to:

Papers and Presentations
Participants are encouraged to submit papers and presentations that align with the conference theme, “Harmony In Innovation: Unleashing The Power Of Nuclear Application For Sustainable Development. Submissions should focus on original research, case studies, or innovative solutions that demonstrate the role of nuclear technology and other scientific advancements in sustainable development. Selected papers will be featured in conference sessions, with opportunities for authors to present their findings and engage with other experts in the field.
Conference Focus Areas:
- Nuclear Medicine: Advancements in diagnostic and therapeutic techniques.
- Agriculture: Nuclear techniques for improving food security and crop innovation.
- Water Testing: Utilizing nuclear technology for water quality and safety.
- Energy: Exploring the role of nuclear power in clean energy solutions.
- Sterile Insect Techniques: Applications in pest control and environmental management.
- Environmental Protection: Innovations in nuclear safety and sustainability.
- Nuclear Research and Innovation: Emerging trends and future directions.
Submission Guidelines:
- Abstract Length: Maximum 300 words.
- Format: Abstracts should be submitted in English and formatted as a Microsoft Word document.
- Content: Include the title of the paper, names of authors, affiliations, and contact details. Clearly outline the research objectives, methodology, results, and conclusions.
- Deadline: All abstracts must be submitted by September 15, 2024.
- Submission Email: Send your abstracts to conferenceabstracts@src-jamaica.org with the subject line “SRC Conference 2024 Abstract Submission.”
Expenditures and Grants
Participants are responsible for covering their own travel, accommodation, and registration costs. However, a limited number of grants may be available to support attendance, particularly for researchers and professionals from Caricom member state who are participating in national or regional projects supported by the IAEA. Information on how to apply for these grants will be provided during the registration process.
Visa
International participants requiring a visa to enter Jamaica should visit https://www.pica.gov.jm/immigration/entry-visa-requirements. If required, upon request, the conference organizers will issue official invitation letters to facilitate the visa application process. Participants are encouraged to apply for their visas well in advance of the conference dates to ensure timely processing.

The S&T Conference is organized by the Scientific Research Council (SRC) in collaboration with key partners and stakeholders, including government agencies, academic institutions, and industry representatives. The planning committee is comprised of experts from various fields who are committed to ensuring the success of the event. The committee is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the conference, from program development to logistics, and ensuring that the event meets the highest standards of excellence.
